Follow these simple steps to install your HRD Perch Mounts and SXS Hand Shields to your dirt bike.

Important Note: Do not use the stock rubber dust cover with these mounts.

Pro Tip: To protect your levers and perches during a crash, wrap a couple of layers of Teflon tape around your handlebars right where the perch clamps down, or upgrade to an aftermarket rotating clasp. This allows the entire perch assembly to rotate on the bars upon impact.

Step 1: Attach the Shield to the Mount
  1. Align the mounting holes of your SXS hand shield with the front face of the HRD perch mount.  The HRD part number will be facing up and the part number suffix indicates the mount is for the left/clutch (L) side or the right/brake (R) side.
  2. Insert the two 6x30mm bolts, each with a 6x18mm washer, through the front of the shield and into the mount.
  3. Thread the lock nuts onto the back of the bolts and tighten them down snug but not tight enough to deform the washer or plastic shield.
Step 2: Prep Your Levers
  1. Remove the factory pivot bolt and nut (if applicable) holding your clutch or brake lever in place.
  2. Remove the stock rubber dust cover and set it aside (do not reinstall it). Keep your lever in place inside the perch.
Step 3: Mount the Assembly to Your Bike
  1. Slide the HRD mount over your bike's lever perch so the vertical holes align with the lever's pivot hole.
  2. Take the newly supplied shoulder bolt and slide a 8x18mm washer onto it. Drop it down through the top of the HRD mount, straight through the lever/perch, and out the bottom.

    Note 1: some mounts use a 25mm long shoulder bolt and others 30mm.  If you get mixed up, test fit the long/short bolts between your two mounts to verify which bolt should go with which mount.

    Note 2: some models will use a standard (non-shoulder) bolt or standard bolt + bushing here.  They will be included in your purchase instead of a shoulder bolt if so.

    Note 3: If the bolt shoulder hangs on the lever bushing, flick the lever while applying light turning pressure to the bolt head.  Eventually it will align and you can finish installation as normal.
  3. Slide a 6x18mm final washer onto the exposed threads at the bottom and thread the 6mm lock nut on.
  4. Tighten the bottom nut securely. Note: Check your lever pull after tightening to ensure it still actuates smoothly and snaps back without binding.
  5. Install the supplied Zip-Tie around the channel on the inboard portion of the mount and around your handlebar.

Note: this helps take some of the force out of the perch if you crash and instead distributes it between the bar and Zip-Tie.

Final Check

Ensure all bolts are snug. Adjust the angle of your perches on the handlebars to your riding preference and the shields to your desired angle, and you are ready to hit the track or trail.
